Our famous Asheville breweries helped Asheville, NC acquire the name 'Beer City USA.' Asheville has been voted Beer City USA four years in a row and is considered the craft-brewing center of the Southeast. Several annual festivals celebrate beer and the local Asheville breweries, including The Brewgrass Festival, Asheville Food & Wine Festival, Asheville Beer Week, Beer City Festival and Asheville Oktoberfest.
Citizens don’t just love beer, they also brew it. Twelve craft Asheville breweries exist, with the list growing: Asheville Brewing Company, Asheville Pizza & Brewing, Craggie Brewing Company, French Broad Brewing Company, Green Man Brewing Company, Highland Brewing Company, Lexington Avenue Brewery (LAB), Oyster House Brewing Company, Pisgah Brewing Company, Thirsty Monk South, Wedge Brewing Company, and Wicked Weed Brewing Company. “On any given day, about 50 local beers can be enjoyed in Asheville, served on draft and in bottles.” – ExploreAsheville.com.
Asheville has also been selected as one of the ‘Top 7 Beer Destinations’ by Travel Channel and one of the ‘Brewed in the USA: the top 5 beer cities in America’ (LonelyPlanet.com).
